Five times at Lung-men you were turned back.
Five times a failure in the examinations.
But this was only because
You were such a multi-talented artist.
The poverty that casts mud upon your roadway
Is sticky, hard to remove.
The sadness that lodges in your small-town heart
Likewise cannot be expelled.
Why travel again to the Capital?
Far better enter Tipsy Village!
There reside music, rhythm and song;
So I urge you to take to the cup.
